Renowned journalist Katie Couric recently took to Instagram to candidly discuss her ongoing battle with eczema, a condition she has dealt with since childhood. In an effort to connect with others who have sensitive skin, she shared both her personal experience and helpful tips for managing flare-ups.

At 66 years old, Couric posted a makeup-free photo revealing visible irritation on her eyelids due to eczema. She explained that, while the condition has been a part of her life since she was a child, it has become more problematic in recent years. Adding to her skin challenges, she also experiences allergic contact dermatitis, making it essential for her to be cautious about the products she uses.

“To everyone with sensitive skin—I see you! 🙋‍♀️ I’ve had eczema since I was a little girl, and it has started acting up again as I’ve gotten older,” Couric wrote in her post. “On top of that, I have allergic contact dermatitis, so I really have to watch what I apply to my face.”

Determined to find relief, Couric sought out Dr. Cheryl Lee, a dermatologist whose products she now swears by. She encouraged her followers to check out Lee’s recommendations, even including a link in her bio for easy access.

Adding a touch of humor to her vulnerability, Couric admitted, “I can’t believe I actually let my team post this photo. Good Lord 🥴.”

Despite the discomfort of her condition, she reassured her audience that by the time she met George Clooney—as seen in an Instagram post later that week—her skin had calmed down. “It flares up so often, and it’s so frustrating! ❤️” she shared.

Her openness was met with overwhelming support, as countless fans and celebrities, including Kristin Chenoweth and Michelle Pfeiffer, applauded her for shedding light on the challenges of living with eczema. Many followers expressed gratitude for her transparency, emphasizing how important it is to talk about skin conditions that often go overlooked.

This isn’t the first time Couric has used her platform to raise awareness about health issues. Just a few months ago, she spoke openly about her breast cancer diagnosis and recovery, emphasizing the importance of early detection.

During the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala in New York, Couric reflected on her journey and urged women to prioritize health screenings. “I’m living proof of why early detection matters,” she said, referencing her 2022 breast cancer diagnosis and the vital role of mammograms and screenings, especially for women with dense breast tissue.

Beyond sharing her personal struggles, Couric continues to advocate for health awareness, using her voice to educate and support others dealing with similar challenges.
